I have a 07 bmw with a codes 2ef7,2ef4 - Answered by a verified BMW Mechanic. Those codes are both for the thermostat, so it likely needs to be replaced, or possibly the temp sensor is bad or there is internal leakage in the Rad. On this year of car I would suspect just the thermo is bad. Mar 12, 2013 2EF7 DME MAP THERMOSTAT, ACTIVATION Anything to worry about chaps? Any advice app' cheers. Best to get them checked again to see which have returned as some could be from a previous fault that was fixed but the code wasnt erased. Current CLA 45 AMG previous 135i M sport. If a fault occurs in the thermostat, a fault code is stored in the ECM, usually with a description of 'Map cooling circuit'. A fault code can be present yet the vehicle will lack any cooling system issues, such as overheating. This is because the thermostat has a fail-safe mechanical function as well.
P0305 is a misfire code for cylinder #5, P0106 The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor responds to pressure changes in the intake manifold. The pressure changes occur based on the engine load. Complete newbie here, never owned a BMW before so apologies in advance for any stupid questions.
I've just bought an E90 320i with full service history (but no warranty). I've driven it down the road, got up to30/40mph and engine management light has come on along with message on screen stating the engine is operating at reduced output. possible to continue, drive with caution etc. etc.
I've taken it to the garage who've read the fault codes and to my surprise there's at least 9 fault codes, the mechanic actually gave up writing them down after the 9th one. He reset the faults to see how many come back.
Driving home, its immediately obvious its struggling even in first. It 'feels' like its misfiring. Again, getting up to speed the EML comes on and I get the reduced power warning. I'm taking it back to the garage tomorrow to have the codes read again.
Has anyone got any experience of so many fault codes in one go? Have I just bought a complete lemon?
